Penfolds Bin 95 "Grange" Shiraz 2016

Grange’s reputation as one of the world’s most celebrated wines continues to grow today. On its 50th birthday in 2001, Grange was listed as a South Australian heritage icon, while the 2008 Grange vintage achieved a perfect score of 100 points by two of the world’s most influential wine magazines. With every new generation of Penfolds winemakers, Max Schubert’s remarkable vision is nurtured and strengthened.

Grape Varietals: 100% Shiraz

Wine Region: South Australia, Australia

Tasting Notes: A fusion of preserved figs, black plum, blackberry and black liquorice flirts with an aromatic elution of fish oil, anchovy, soy and sesame/nori. An uplifting freshness and higher notes are liberated with air – awakened scents akin to cola, Chinotto, aniseed, root beer. The palate is full-bodied with adequate balance and style and a goregeous length. Oak conceded, effortlessly merging with blue and black fruits and dark chocolate/mocha notes. Solid, malleable tannins, with an exacting acid coupling, serve to polish and elevate. Creamy/velvety, tannins are tight with a ‘rusty’ edge. Ebullient acidity, whilst lively and racy, is well-managed. Drink in 2031.
