Contino 'Vina del Olivo' Rioja 2018

Viña del Olivo aims to be the maximum expression of Contino’s terroir as it is one of the few calcareous clay estates in Contino. It's made from 40-year-old vines, aged in French, American and Hungarian oak over 17 months and left in the bottle for over a year. As a result, it's complex, rich and truly indulgent.

Grape Varietals: 69% Tempranillo, 23% Graciano, 8% Mazuelo

Wine Region: Rioja, Spain

Tasting Notes: It has a very intense nose with a spicy touch and blackberry and red fruit aromas and a hint of balsamic and liquorice richness. On the palate it's really full and quite creamy while the mature tannins hold everything together really well before leading to a long finsh with savoury notes of tobacco and cedar.

Food Pairing: Grilled and roasted red meat, or strong mature cheeses.
