Chateau Calon-Ségur 2012

St Estephe Third Growth Cru Classé Calon Segur has been performing at an exceptionally high level this century, releasing a series of beautifully balanced, classy red Bordeaux, and the 2012 vintage is a case in point, with finely judged tannins and plenty of immediate berry fruits allied to subtle notes of exotic spice that make for tantalizing drinking.

Grape Varietals: 56% Cabernet sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 7% Cabernet franc, 2% Petit Verdot

Wine Region: Saint Estèphe, Bordeaux, France

Tasting Notes: Deep dark ruby color. Earthy hints of herb, liquorice, leather and black currants. Medium to full-bodied, tobacco, light cedar, bay and worn leather notes holding sway over a core of lightly mulled red and black currant flavours.  Everything pulls together nicely through the fine-grained finish.
