The “P.56” Riserva is produced only in outstanding years from the point of view of the climate and the quality of the fruit, from a selection of less than 10% of the finest grapes from the oldest vineyards. In some years the wine presents itself for longer ageing and is bottled as a Riserva, in 2018 aging was as standard and this was bottled as a single cru.
Grape Varietals: 100% Sangiovese
Wine Region: Brunello di Montalcino, Tuscany, Italy
Tasting Notes: Deep ruby red; expressive aromas of balsamic, morel cherry, and currant. Medium-full with a beautifully defined mid-palate, good acidity, excellent persistence, and elegant, sleek tannins. Gorgeous varietal character, lengthy finish with precise harmony of fruit, tannins and acidity. While this could be enjoyed now with a bistecca fiorentina, this will improve with time, and should peak in 12-20 years.
