In August 2012 Jim Barry planted Australia’s first Assyrtiko at his Lodge Hill Vineyard. Their Assyrtiko journey has enabled them to produce a wine which, Jim believes, is a true expression of the variety. I hope you find the flavors as interesting as I did in 2006
Grape Varietals: 100% Assytriko
Wine Region: Clare Valley, Australia
Tasting Notes: Fresh and electric, with dried lemon flesh, lime juice, bay leaf, and fresh pink grapefruit juice aromas. The palate shows powerful fruit weight with generous fruit flavours, and a clean acid line. A very long drive with slight salinity on the finish.
Food Pairing: Tzatziki Chicken with Greek Salad & Couscous
