Brown Estate Tempranillo 2017

In 2009 when they replanted their Big Field vineyard, David decided to install amidst the Zinfandel a one-acre section of Tempranillo alongside three acres of Petite Sirah. These were the first new varietals introduced on their property since 1990. David had already made one vintage (2008) of Petite Sirah from grapes purchased from a neighboring vineyard but Tempranillo was a new venture altogether.

Grape Varietals: 100% Estate Grown Tempranillo

Wine Region: Napa Valley, California

Tasting Notes: Nose bursts with ripe blue and black fruits followed by dried red fruits and flowers and a hint of fine Italian leather. Deeper in, fresh Alpine notes dance with subtle smoked herbs and faint burning wood. Mouthfeel is silky, long, and deep, filling the palate with succulent warm blueberry compote and chalky meringue. Medium body with ultra-fine tannins. Lithe and silky with vibrant acidity, lingering finish, gentle tannins.

Food Pairing: Grilled T-bone steak with Chimichurri and roast potatoes.
