Bruno Rocca Barbaresco ‘Rabaja’ Riserva 2013
The Rabajà vineyard is one of the most historic, famous, and sought-out crus of Barbaresco. Here is where our family made history. Our grandparents Rocca Francesco and Bo Maria Adelaide purchased it in 1958, with its farmhouse of the same name. It is where the seat of our winery sits today.
Grape Varietals: 100% Nebbiolo
Wine Region: Rabajà, Barbaresco, Italy
Tasting Notes: Aromas of dark fruit, spice, tar and crushed mineral are tied tightly together with strength and harmony. The tannins need time to soften, but that won't come as a surprise. Hints of kirsch, rose petal and mint add shades of complexity. There is an element of classicism in the 2013 that is so well suited to Rabajà as a site. This cooler vintage shows some tightness in terms of the wine's tannic structure, and I'm sure this will continue for some for years to come. This is a bottle that needs more time in the cellar. Drink in 2022-2035.
Food Pairing: Braised Veal
