Château Giscours is a historic third-growth estate located in the Margaux appellation of the Médoc region on Bordeaux’s Left Bank. Known for its striking 19th-century architecture and deep Garonne gravel soils, the property underwent significant modernization in the late 1990s, shifting toward a higher proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon to produce more structured, opulent, and long-lived Margaux wines.

Grape Varietals: 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc

Wine Region: Margaux, Bordeaux, France

Tasting Note: From an exceptional, warm Bordeaux vintage, the 2009 Giscours is expressive, opulent, and beginning to enter its prime drinking window. The nose displays rich aromas of ripe cassis, dark plum, incense, and cedar, backed by subtle notes of tobacco leaf and forest floor. On the palate, it is full-bodied and generous, featuring sweet, velvety tannins balanced by a lively core of black fruit and a long, polished finish. In a 3L Jeroboam format, this wine will mature with extra slow grace. Drink now - 2038.

Food Pairing: Herb-crusted rack of lamb, slow-roasted prime rib, or wild mushroom taglierini.
