Massican ‘Annia’ 2023
Since its founding in 2009, Massican has been a “white wines only” winery – a rarity in California – that prides itself on transparency and ethical environmental practices. In recent years, Dan has been vocal about Massican’s uncommon goal in the luxury wine space: fair pricing for a more inclusive wine community – a “scalable authenticity.” This unique take on American wine - and his outsized presence in the wine world at large - inspired the San Francisco Chronicle to name Petroski 'Winemaker of the Year' in 2017, writing: "Not that all the Massican wines are identical to each other, each wine performs its distinctions...yet they all, somehow, taste like Massican.
Region: Napa Valley, California
Grape Varietals: 43% Friulano, 34% Ribolla Gialla, and 23% Chardonnay
Tasting Notes: “A blend of Tocai Friulano, Ribolla Gialla and Chardonnay from small vineyards around the Napa Valley. Each variety is harvested separately and fermented independently in French Oak—aromas of honey, lychee and crushed stone. The palate is fleshy and mouth-filling with rich, ripe peach and honeyed apricot, finishing with a mouthful of wild, savoury herbs.” - Decanter
