Poggio Antico, founded in 1976 and situated on the slopes of Montalcino, is recognised for its organic vineyard management and refined expressions of Sangiovese. Their Riserva bottling is made only in exceptional years from selected parcels, and the 2016 vintage stands among the finest in recent memory for the denomination.

Tasting Notes: Rich ruby-garnet in the glass with aromas of black cherry, kirsch, violet, sandalwood and forest floor. The palate is concentrated and structured, offering dark plum, leather, spice and tar complemented by firm tannins and lively acidity. The finish is long, pure and built for the cellar.

Food Pairing: Roast wild boar with juniper berries, aged Pecorino Toscano, or braised beef cheek with polenta.
