Taylor's 50 Year Old Tawny 'Golden Age'
Taylor’s, founded in 1692, stands among the great houses of the Douro and has built its reputation on extraordinary aged tawnies and vintage ports. “Golden Age” is their rare 50-year-old tawny release — a field blend matured half a century in hand-selected oak casks, drawn from premium parcels in the eastern Douro Valley and bottled to celebrate the apex of maturity, balance and finesse.
Grape Varietals: Traditional Douro field blend (Touriga Nacional, Touriga Francesa, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca, Tinta Cão, etc.)
Wine Region: Douro Valley, Portugal
Tasting Notes: Chestnut-amber core with a golden rim. The nose reveals dried apricot, fig, rum raisin, toasted almond, clove and a hint of black pepper. On the palate the depth unfolds into quince, prune, caramelised orange peel, toasted coconut and butterscotch, underpinned by bright acidity and a finish that lingers long and elegant.
Food Pairing: Fine aged cheese (like 30-month Parmigiano), dark chocolate with sea salt, or a petit-fours dessert plate. Excellent as a contemplative after-dinner drink.
